About DART : Deterding Arts Resource Team - 25+ years of
supporting the arts in education
What is DART?
DART is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1981 by Deterding
Elementary parents on the principle that an art and music education is
important to the development of a well rounded child. “If the school
district will not fund our art and music programs,” they decided,
“then we will.”
What does this mean for my child?
Your child benefits from being part of a unique school with rich
history. Deterding’s campus culture is characterized by balance and
excellence across all disciplines. Both the neighborhood and rapid
learner programs maintain a strong academic curriculum. In a tight
budget environment, DART, with private money, seeks to make sure that
music and art remain an important part of our strong academic
reputation.
What about the PTA?
DART and Deterding’s PTA work hand in hand, sharing the larger goal of
improving the school. DART’s charter restricts it from spending money
outside the art and music programs. DART’s presence means that the PTA
can spend its resources where they are needed – site improvement,
computers, PE equipment, etc. For Deterding parents, DART and PTA
gives you two options of where to place your volunteer hours. Please
remember that DART and PTA complement each other and are not competing
for resources and support. Supporting both organizations will benefit
your child and the whole school.
