School Menus : Breakfast and lunch are served daily at
Deterding Elementary School
Good nutrition helps students learn. Breakfast and lunch are
available at Deterding. Menus are planned by the district's
registered dietitian to meet federal and
state guidelines for good health (such as reduced fat).
Elementary school breakfast and lunch menus are published
and sent home monthly.
San Juan Unified School District provides lunches
using the National School Lunch guidelines:
- 1/3 of the RDA for: CALORIES, PROTEIN, CALCIUM, IRON,
VITAMIN A, and VITAMIN C
- 30% or less Calories from FAT
- 10% or less Calories from SATURATED FAT
- With a FOCUS on high FIBER and low SODIUM.
San Juan Unified School District is a member of the
SHAPE Project (Shaping Health As Partners in
Education), which is a network of more than 70 school
districts working together to improve the health and
academic success of California children. Working as a team,
child, nutrition staff, teachers, school nurses,
administrators, family and the community provide a
consistent nutrition message in the cafeteria, classrooms,
and throughout the school campus.
